Lower Back Pain

Low back pain is extremely common, with 60-80% of people experiencing it at least once during their lifetime. In most cases, the cause is not too severe, and people do recover well with effective management.

Some of the causes may include reduced activity, increased exercise level, prolonged sitting, prolonged standing, posture, sleeping habits, lifestyle factors and psychological stress…so it can be tricky to pinpoint what is causing it.

It’s important to have your back assessed by a physiotherapist who can look at your movement patterns and prescribe the best exercises and advice for your specific problem.

Treatment is often effective at relieving pain and improving your movement. This helps improve quality of life and get you back to doing the things you want to do.

Exercise is the gold standard treatment for lower back pain. While it often relieves pain and stiffness, most importantly it will treat the underlying causes. While low back pain is common, it doesn’t have to be your norm & there are many treatment and exercise strategies which can help.
